Behaviour
At our school, we believe that positive behaviour creates the foundations for successful learning, strong relationships and a happy school community. Our approach is built around our three core values:
We come to school prepared to learn, listen and take part in every opportunity.
We show kindness, consideration and courtesy to others, valuing everyone in our school community.
Safe
We make positive choices to keep ourselves and others physically and emotionally safe.
To help children demonstrate these values every day, we follow the principles of Paul Dix's relational approach to behaviour, placing positive relationships at the heart of everything we do. We promote clear and consistent expectations through:
- Wonderful Walking around the school building.
- Legendary Lining Up when moving around school.
- Marvellous Manners in all interactions with children and adults.
These expectations are taught, modelled and celebrated daily, helping create a calm, purposeful and respectful learning environment.
We firmly believe that children thrive when positive behaviour is recognised and rewarded. Our behaviour system focuses on positive reinforcement, encouraging children to make good choices and live out our school values.
Children can earn Element Points when they demonstrate being Ready, Respectful or Safe. These achievements are regularly celebrated in school and shared with parents, ensuring that positive behaviour is recognised both at home and at school.
Whilst the vast majority of children consistently demonstrate our values, we recognise that some children may need additional support to regulate their behaviour and make positive choices.
When concerns arise, staff work closely with children and families to understand needs, identify barriers and provide appropriate support. We use a graduated behaviour support process which may include:
- Individual pastoral support planning.
- Child, parent and staff voice.
- Support from class teachers, phase leaders and the SENDCo.
- Senior Leadership Team involvement where required.
- Regular review meetings to monitor progress and next steps.
- Risk reduction planning where necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of all. [PSP Process | PowerPoint]
Our aim is always to help every child feel successful, valued and able to flourish within our school community.
Strong partnerships between school and home are essential. By working together and maintaining high expectations, we help children develop the confidence, resilience and self-discipline they need to become responsible, respectful and successful citizens.
